As Intel^® Haswell Platform Arrives, Shuttle Launches SH87R6, SZ87R6

(May 30, 2013) The long-awaited Intel^® Haswell platform will officially debut in June. Shuttle, the leading brand in cube size mini PCs, is launching new XPC products that are equipped Intel Haswell processor at the Computex Taipei 2013. The Shuttle XPC SH87R6 comes equipped with Intel H87 express chipset, primarily designed for high-definition video-entertainment applications. The SZ87R6 includes Intel Z87 express chipset supporting Intel^® K series unlocked processors. Including 80 PLUS Bronze certified 500W power supplies, the systems provide the overclocking power that enthusiasts need to enjoy their favorite highest performance.

The SH87R6 and SZ87R6 are equipped with the new LGA1150 socket* supporting the Intel^® Haswell processor, the latest fourth-generation Core^TM i7/i5/i3 processor, integrating new Intel^® HD Graphics core compatible with DirectX 11.1 instructions. It provides a huge improvement from the previous-generation Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge CPUs in terms of processor and GPU performance. The HDMI and DVI-I output connectors provided on rear panels support two independent displays and built-in 7.1-channel audio, offering users 1080P / Full-HD high-definition video and entertainment enjoyment.

For expansion, the SH87R6 and SZ87R6 are equipped with four long DIMM memory slots supporting dual-channel DDR3-1600 memory with total capacity up to 32GB. Also provided are one PCI-E x16 and one PCI-E x4 slot in which a single -slot graphics card and an expansion card can both be added, or one dual-slot high-end graphics card can be added for customized 3D graphics performance or other expansion functions. Also built in are two Mini-PCIe slots as well as a half-size slot supporting a WiFi card. In addition, there is another full-size slot supporting mSATA SSD card to provide more flexible storage options.

The Intel^® H87 and Z87 chipsets fully support the SATA 6Gbps high-speed storage interface and include native support for USB 3.0. The SH87R6 and SZ87R6 are equipped with four SATA 6Gbps slots, supporting Intel^® Rapid Storage Technology, and RAID 0 / 1/5 disk array operation mode, data access rates can be accelerated or data can be protected when the hard drive fails. With support for Intel^® Smart Response Technology, the advantages of hard disk drives (HDD) and solid state drive (SSD) can be combined to hybrid hard disk, allowing ordinarily used programs and important files to be automatically saved to SSD to enhance the computer’s performance. In addition, the SZ87R6 also supports the dynamic storage accelerator function, allowing systems in Windows 7 or 8 enhanced the performance of a solid state drive.

Adopting the new R6 chassis design, the SH87R6 and SZ87R6 come in brushed-finish (hair-line finish) black cases. The USB ports in the front panels support quick-charge functions for smartphones or tablets. Inside are Shuttle’s patented I.C.E. 2 cooling heat pipe modules that use capillary suction technology to let water inside the system evaporate and condense, thereby quickly conducting heat to the heat sink to be discharged by the intelligent cooling fan. This ensures that the computer maintains cool and stable performance.
