Sony Alpha A550/500
...Alpha A550 และ A500 นั้นเป็นผลผลิตจากกล้องในตระกูล Alpha ในกลุ่มราคาที่ต่ำกว่า 900 ดอลล่าสหรัฐ กล่าวคือ เป็นกล้อง DSLR ระดับที่เรียกว่า Entry level(กลุ่มผู้เริ่มต้นจริงจังกับการถ่ายภาพ) ที่มักจะมียอดขายดี มีราคาและฟีเจอร์ที่ยอมรับได้ โดย A550 และ A500 เหมือนจะถูกเปิดตัวมาเพื่อสร้างเซกเมนท์ใหม่ของตลาดระดับนี้ ให้มีความแยกย่อยละเอียดลงไปอีก A550/500 นั้น จะมีการบังคับควบคุมการปรับค่าของกล้องที่รวดเร็ว กว่ากล้อง Entry level รุ่นเล็กกว่าอย่าง A230 330 และ 380 โดยที่จะเห็นได้เด็ดๆ เลยก็คงจะเป็นพวกปุ่ม AE lock รวมไปถึงปุ่มควบคุม 4 ทิศทางที่สามารถใช้เลือกตำแหน่งโฟกัสได้ทันที ทำให้เป็นที่น่าสนใจสำหรับผู้ที่มีประสบการณ์ทางการถ่ายภาพมาแล้วบ้าง แต่ไม่ต้องการกล้องระดับ Semi pro เนื่องด้วยราคา หรือฟีเจอร์หลายๆ อย่างที่มากไป
...ในขณะเดียวกัน เทคโนโลยีใน A550/500 นั้นก็ยังคงเป็นเอกลักษณ์ของตระกูล Alpha อันได้แก่เทคโนโลยี Steady shot ที่จะทำการ shift เซนเซอร์รับภาพตามการสั่นสะเทือนของกล้อง (ระบบกันสั่น) รวมไปถึงระบบประมวลผลภาพ BIONZ เซ็นเซอร์ CMOS ขนาด APS-C ความละเอียด 14 และ 12 ล้านพิกเซล ตามลำดับรุ่นครับ ถ้าจะว่ากันเผินๆแล้ว ดูเหมือนว่า A550/500 จะเป็นผลผลิตจากการพัฒนาเทคโนโลยีในเรื่องของเซ็นเซอร์แบบ CMOS ของโซนี่หลังจากที่ A900 และ 850 ได้นำเทคโนโลยีตรงนี้ไปใช้แล้วนั้นเอง
